Setting the stage for recovery
Intervention is the process of helping a loved one find a safe treatment program for a family member or friend who is struggling with substance use disorder or mental illness. Woody Giessmann is a Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) and Licensed Clinician (LADC – I) for the treatment of substance use and mental health disorders. Right Turn has a high rate of success using a combination of Arise, Family Centered, Stages of Change, and The Johnson Model of Intervention.
During the intervention process, participants affirm the worth of the individual and express their positive feelings for him or her. But even with a kind, gentle approach, at-risk individuals aren't always ready or willing to go to treatment. They are often frustrated, angry, and depressed. As an experienced interventionist, Woody has extensive experience dealing with complicated and resistant people. He will handle any necessary confrontation, make arrangements for treatment, and deal with all practical objections. He will assist in identifying the best treatment program, packing appropriate belongings, coordinate all travel arrangements, and ensure that the person arrives at the selected program on the day of the intervention.
In addition to assessing the needs of the at-risk person, The Right Turn team is highly skilled in assessing the needs of family members in crisis. The goal is to find a treatment center with a strong family component. Because substance use affects entire families, providing family support during and after the intervention process is an important component of a successful intervention. To ensure a successful outcome, Right Turn requires a 90-day commitment.
Many individuals who are dealing with a chemical dependency also struggle with a co-occurring disorder such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar or PTSD. Right Turn’s team has extensive knowledge of both substance use and mental health disorders, with professional relationships to the best treatment programs in America and Europe. We will assist in the selection of a program that is best for the individual in need.
